  • You can skip the suds and save your dishwasher drain from the cat food cans. A simple rinse or wipe will do just fine as long as there is no residue remaining.

  • Household recyclables such as soda cans, soup cans, aluminum foil and aerosol cans are accepted at both drop off centers.  Other metal items such as metal pots, pans, wires and appliances can also be recycled at both drop off centers through the Metal Recycling Program. Not all items can be purchased. For a complete list, visit the Madison County Drop-off Brochure.

Please bring these metal items separated into these categories:

    ·         Aluminum Cans

    ·         Aluminum Foil

    ·         Steel or Tin Cans and Aerosol containers (empty)

    ·         Scrap Metal

  • We get it. Plastic recycling feels confusing, and it isn’t as simple as 1, 2, 3…There are seven different numbers. In Madison County, only plastic bottles and jugs (#1 and #2) from your kitchen, laundry and bathrooms are accepted at the drop off centers.

Please bring these plastic items separated into these categories:

    ·         #1 PET Plastic Bottles (clear or see through colors)

    ·         #2 HDPE Plastic Jugs (Natural)

    ·         #2 HDPE Plastic Jugs (Colored)

No other plastic items are accepted. No plastic clamshells, yogurt/cottage cheese tubs, old buckets, plastic bags, to-go cups, etc.

Certain plastic materials like plastic bags can get caught in recycling machines. Leave these out of your recycling and find a nearby drop-off location for them such as your local Wal-Mart or Harps.

  • If you bring recyclables in a plastic bag, empty them into designated containers. Shredded paper can stay in a plastic bag in the sorted office paper area. Keep plastic bags out of recycling containers. Clean and dry plastic bags can be reused or taken to a local Wal-Mart of Harps.

  • Unfortunately, Styrofoam and other foam materials aren’t accepted for recycling at the drop-off center. Foam food containers such as to-go boxes, cups, and packing peanuts should be put in the trash instead.

  • Electronics are accepted for a fee at both locations. Batteries are accepted at both locations for free. Batteries must be taped on both ends to prevent fires during transportation to the recycling drop-off center. For a complete list, view the Madison County Drop-off Brochure.

  • Tires, used motor oil, oil-based paints, and other hazardous waste items can be disposed of at both drop-off locations for a fee. For a complete list, view the Madison County Drop-off Brochure.

  • For more information, view the Madison County Drop-off Brochure.

    ·         Appliances (stoves, emptied water heaters, washers, dryers) can be recycled at both locations.

    ·         Freon-containing units (refrigerators, cooling items) require a fee and must have refrigerant removed by a licensed professional with documentation.

    ·         Tires: Up to 4 rimless tires are free per 30 days; fees apply for additional or rimmed tires.

    ·         Furniture (mattresses, dressers, desks, couches, chairs) requires a fee unless eligible for the bulky voucher program.

  • Yard waste is not accepted at either recycling drop-off center. The closest facility that will take these items is the Fayetteville Compost Facility located at 1708 S Armstrong Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72701. Call (479) 575-8398 for more information.

  • Old rugs and carpet cannot be recycled, but they can be disposed of for a fee at both locations.

  • Yes, gently used items that are clean and dry can be placed in our reuse shop. Items that are worn out, stained, or have holes can also be recycled as long as they are clean and dry. For these items, write rags and keep them separated from reusable items.
